Cycle NC at River Landing

River Landing hosted Cycle North Carolina’s more than 700 riders for their “Mountains to Coast” Bicycle Tour. The week-long event is organized each fall by North Carolina Amateur Sports and features hundreds of cycle enthusiasts riding 50 to 100 miles each day. This year’s tour started in Sparta, NC, and ended in nearby Topsail Beach. River Landing was the final overnight stop on the 7-day trip, with The Vineyards neighborhood serving as home base. Participants began arriving around noon and were greeted with live music and vendors. Mad Boar Restaurant & Pub served hundreds of meals in The Vineyards as a vendor. Many of the cyclists also visited the restaurant to enjoy dinner and live music. The majority of cyclists tent camped in The Vineyards but the Holiday Inn Express and Clubhouse Suites and Cottages were full as well!

October Safety Trainer

OSHA Inspections

OSHA-Occupational Safety and Health Administration, has field inspectors that call on employers from time to time. The main purpose is to inspect your facility to ensure that worker safety is being addressed. They have a job to do and we, the Murphy Family Ventures TEAM, also have a job to do. Our job is to completely buy-in to the MFV Safety Program and ensure that our facilities are hazard free, our workers are trained to run equipment, our procedures or SOP’s for any task are up to date and have been totally communicated to our TEAMS. Any employee training should be reinforced with Monitoring and Coaching to ensure we are doing things the right way!

When an OSHA INSPECTION should take place, this trainer will guide you on what to do. It is very important that this procedure is followed and the listed-affected-managers/directors are contacted as soon as possible. The OSHA Inspector has the right to visit our facilities, we just need to ensure that our house is in order every day. Follow the steps in this document during the inspection.
— Mike Brown, Safety Manager
