Our Roots

From a small farm in Rose Hill, NC, the Murphy family established their roots in the business world by under promising and over-delivering. Wendell Murphy and his father, Holmes Murphy, entered the business world together in 1962. Through hard work and a daily investment in the enterprise, they began to recognize opportunity. That entrepreneurial spirit would help other local farmers make more profitable use of their land and resources. Their new implementations helped to revolutionize agribusiness, and in large part helped bring the industry to where it is today.

Through the vision of Wendell Murphy and his two siblings, Harry “Pete” Murphy and Joyce Murphy Minchew, the Murphy family grew their family business into much more. After years of successful farming, the family began investing in other businesses. Some businesses were started from scratch, while others were already established.

Today, the companies run by the Murphys strive to continue the tradition of excellence that the early Murphy family embraced. Wendell “Dell” Murphy Jr., Wendell’s son, created Murphy Family Ventures in order to bring the Murphy business endeavors under one management group. This management group provides services to help smaller companies be more focused and efficient in their operations. Murphy Family Ventures continues to embrace the tradition of under promising and over-delivering, a tradition that runs deep to the roots of the Murphy family.
