Training Department Finds New Ways to Train Employees
The Training and Development department is mixing things up and our employees are having a blast with it! Led by Training and Development Manager Tomeka Robinson, the implementation of interactive team games such as Giant Jenga and Land Mines helped teach employees leadership skills and teamwork. The main focus was to see the teams conquer the 4 stages of team growth (form, storm, norm, and perform). So far they have visited over 10 departments between NC and MO.

Employee Spotlight
Sabrina Lewis - River Landing
We would like to put the spotlight on Activities Director and Fitness Center Manager Sabrina Lewis! She has been with us for 17 years and is one of the reasons why River Landing is such an enjoyable place to live. Sabrina often speaks about how much she loves her job. "I love having the opportunity to work with so many ages and to bring them excitement about the place they call home. It’s like having a second family with all the connections and relationships you develop with Members and Residents." You can often find her planning the next big event at River Landing or instructing the cardio dance fitness class. Fun fact about Sabrina - kids often refer to her as the "party boss"! In her free time, Sabrina likes to spend time with her husband and high school sweetheart James and their 3 boys Isiac, Noah, and Titus (2 of which work in the golf carts department). She loves to dance, bake, and watch football with her family - they are big 49ers fans. They also love to play games together and drink hot chocolate by the fire pit. Sabrina said that she and the family have a lot of fun, and she never knows when a prank is headed her way. Thank you, Sabrina, for all you do!

Safety First
Safety Trainer: Safety Committee & Training
Each month every department receives a short safety trainer to discuss and share with their team members. It is important that your department complete the training each month - it’s all about SAFETY. Each of us is a part of the safety committee, and we must be committed to it! Here are a few areas where you can improve safety within your assigned department or workplace:
Be a role model by always communicating safe practices in every task that takes place during the work shift
Mentor or coach new employees on the correct procedures
Assist with training within your department to ensure everyone understands and carries out the task in a safe manner
Always focus on continual improvement, and look for and correct hazards
Report work orders and submit them to be fixed or repaired
When an accident occurs, work hard to ensure no re-occurrence ever takes place - this is where teamwork comes in
Do not hesitate to make suggestions
Remember “SAFETY IS EVERYONE’S JOB”
