The Buzz
Peters Creek Joey Short Receives Emerging Leader Award
Our very own Joey Short from Peters Creek Farm was recently honored with the Emerging Leader Award at the 2023 NC Pork Council conference! According to Farm Manager Kris Hairr, he started his career with MFV through an internship in 2020 in which he quickly moved through training earning him a position as Head of the Farrowing Department. Check out Joey’s interview on pig survivability and labor which can be found on Swine Web Podcast. Congratulations Joey!
Duplin County 10th Grade Career Fair
Our Hospitality and Marketing Departments had a blast at the 10th Grade Career & College Fair held at the Duplin Events Center. We discussed what it's like to have a career at MFV and working in the marketing industry, and we even played games!
Birthday Celebrations
Happy Birthday to Laura Garcia Vasquez and Juan Carolos Bautista Martinez of Pender 2 Sow Farm who recently celebrated their birthdays!
Ag Fest
There were 1,800 students at the University of Mount Olive Ag Fest. We were so honored to be a sponsor for such a great event. Programs like this are essential for the future of Ag!
Scorecard Winners
Each month our sow farms participate in healthy competition in an effort to reward the highest levels of productivity. This is measured in three areas, farrowing rate, pigs weaned, and conception rate/RTU. Each of the winning teams receives a catered dinner of their choice.
