MFV Hosts Annual High School Career Fair
We had a great time hanging out with the students at our annual career fair! 7 local schools were in attendance and learned about all of the opportunities we offer at MFV. Even the school staff had a session of their own where they learned tips that they could give their students when interviewing for jobs. Thank you Mad Boar Restaurant & Pub for being such a great host!

Joey Short Places in Best Beard Contest
The pork industry isn't all about work; we like to have a little fun too! Every year Farm Journal's PORK Magazine hosts a Best Beards in the Pork Industry Contest, and our very own Joey Short won 10th place after a close shave! Did you catch that!? Congrats Joey!
Scorecard Winners
Each month our sow farms participate in healthy competition in an effort to reward the highest levels of productivity. This is measured in three areas, farrowing rate, pigs weaned, and conception rate/RTU. Each of the winning teams receives a catered dinner of their choice.

Abusive Conduct in the Workplace
Abusive conduct is totally unacceptable in the workplace. Murphy Family Ventures is a proactive employer which will not tolerate this type of behavior. Any team member that has been exposed to this type of treatment should not be afraid to report any such behavior to their supervisor, manager, or HR. We continue to stress a “family workplace environment” and expect all team members to comply. It’s all about looking after each other!

New Safety Items on the Way
Our safety program here at Murphy Family Ventures has been on a track of continuous improvement for several years. We are always looking at ways to enhance our safety protocols and standard operating procedures to reduce work related accidents and injuries. Our safety objectives are to ensure that each team member has received the proper task training before starting a task. We do this by promoting eyes-on monitoring by supervisors and managers to ensure the correct techniques have been used. Each month we conduct refresher safety training to keep everyone focused on the task. Finally, Murphy Family Ventures provides the correct/serviceable personal protective equipment (PPE) to reinforce the company’s commitment to safety.
Recently we received an allocation of funding from our worker compensation captive to use in purchasing items that would address our needs to reduce injuries or accidents in the workplace. Our request for funding was approved to purchase these items for all sow production locations. These PPE kits are equipped with four pairs of safety glasses, two pairs of safety goggles, and a pair of leatherwork gloves. These kits will provide both assigned team members and maintenance technicians accessibility to safe and serviceable personal protective equipment to use for any task being performed during the work shift. We will continue to focus on ways to generate a proactive safety culture here at MFV. Stay tuned!
